Rodents association with human has been so close and lasting that some species depends upon man for food and shelters. Rats can virtually gnaw at any thing and no reserves are safe from their destruction. Usually the female rates breeds for 4-5 times in a year and produce 4-9 young-ones in each litter.
Rodents are caused millions of dollars in damages to field crops, stored grain, farm equipments, Wood Work, Water Pipes, Electric Cables, and Million of articles in all kind ranging from clothes, paper to tablets of Soap each year. In addition, they are the major carrier for more than 60 diseases that are transmissible to humans and livestock such as Plague, Jaundice, Murine Typhus Fever, Lassa fever, leptospirosis, several types of haemorrhage fevers , including hantavirus etc.
